Hannah grew up in a working class neighborhood in Detroit. Her mother died when she was a toddler and she was raised by her father. Her love of cars comes from her father, who worked an automobile plant until he was laid off and began working odd jobs. Her relationship with her father was always complicated and Hannah eventually ran away. She hasn't seen him since she was 14, but believes he's probably still alive.
After running away from home she spent several years involved with a street gang, committing petty crime and pulling scams on tourists. She managed to keep her shit together enough to get a high school diploma, have her juvenile record sealed, and enlist in the Army. Things finally seemed to be going her way, until what she calls “a complete misunderstanding” resulted in her being kicked out with an other than honorable discharge. Chuy, a friend Hannah made in the Army, saved her from turning back to the life of trouble she'd known in Detroit and helped recruit her to the CIA, despite her less than stellar personal record.
She met Senator Luke Organa while on special assignment as his security detail. Despite butting heads repeatedly, she found herself falling in love with him. After revealing their feelings to each other and nearly being killed, Hannah pursued a relationship with him. The situation complicated by his pending arrangement marriage to a foreign princess, they began dating in secret - until Hannah got pregnant. His engagement soon ended and they were married in a civil ceremony at the city clerk's office.
